An Otherwise heaven: A Zine Launch & Exhibition
Heaven is often positioned as a place of eternal riches; imagined as an exclusive gated community with gold plated roads and endless mansions, heaven is made seductive through images of wealth. Glorious Blasphemy Zine Issue 2, titled "An Otherwise Heaven," was both a zine launch and group exhibition exploring: what can heaven be when not held hostage by the greed of the capitalist imagination? Here, we annihilate and reform heaven into a blasphemous paradise, one that centers Black/queer/trans dreaming.
This exhibition was held from October 4th - October 24th, 2024 at the Da Vinci Art Alliance (DVAA) Gallery in Philadelphia, PA. This project was awarded the UPenn Campaign for Community Award as well as the Hershey Humanities Against Discrimination Grant from the UPenn Wolf Humanities Center.
